New UL component recognition for CAREL products using A2L refrigerants

CAREL has obtained UL LZGH2/8 component recognition for a selection of “A2L ready” products, confirming that they can be considered non-ignition sources according to a safety standard widely used by air conditioning and heat pump manufacturers: UL 60335-2-40. The recognition covers the pCO (pCO5+), c.pCO (c.pCO and c.pCO mini), c.pCOe I/O expansion, k.air, pRack, and io.module ranges.
The choice of low-GWP refrigerants, internationally promoted by regulations such as the F-gas and AIM Act, is pushing industry players to find increasingly sustainable solutions. However, many of these alternatives, such as A2L refrigerants, are flammable and require that equipment is certified to specific standards, such as IEC 60335-2-40.
The UL LZGH2/8 classification simplifies the integration of CAREL components into systems, reducing the time and costs associated with leakage tests and enhancing overall equipment safety. CAREL has long adopted a proactive strategy to identify and develop components that are not sources of ignition, thereby contributing to the acceleration of the ecological transition in the sector. The UL component recognition, valid for both the US and Canadian markets, ensures a higher level of reliability and faster approval processes.
