Knowledge for innovation: the value of training

This April saw the completion of four consecutive weeks of courses, divided equally between HQs and our US subsidiary, for a total of around 100 contact hours, with 60 participants and 18 educators. An intense period that reflects what has become the consolidated standard at CAREL: to invest in training with the focus on technology and the most advanced applications in the HVAC/R market. This extensive training organisation culminates in the Knowledge Center, one of the peaks of excellence at CAREL, designed specifically to grow and disseminate knowledge throughout the Group and identify the main technological trends.

Every year, CAREL invests 7% of consolidated sales in Research & Development, designing, developing and testing products and solutions in the actual applications that are then proposed to our customers. “Through internal training we aim to spread knowledge of the applications our products are used for between colleagues from different company areas and regions”, commented Biagio Lamanna, Knowledge Center Manager.

The Knowledge Center is continuing to extend its scope: in 2015, 150 employees took part in seven training sessions. The objective for 2016 is to increase this number to twelve, extend the organisation to other CAREL subsidiaries around the world and divide the topics evenly between the two market groups, HVAC/Climate and Refrigeration/Retail. “In the last few years”, Lamanna continued, “we have been working on structuring an activity that has always been important at CAREL: to disseminate technological and application know-how throughout the organisation regarding the sectors in which we are not only leading suppliers of control technology, but increasingly expert partners in the HVAC/R business”.
