Integrated control of hydronic systems

Integrated control of hydronic systems
The integrated control system used in hydronic systems offers numerous advantages.
If we consider that an integrated system for the control of hydronic systems shares in its own serial network information regarding real room occupation levels, the thermal load of even every single fan coil, the humidity of single rooms, the thermal load of the chiller, the outdoor temperature, it is clear that there are unlimited adjustment possibilities and evident advantages, such as: the possibility to vary the flow of water in the fancoil network using pumps controlled by inverter, the possibility to modify the temperature of the water in the chiller/heat pump as required by humidity and thermal loads, the possibility to select in alternative algorithms that give more priority to comfort than cooling/heating capacity, the possibility to choose the best heat source (heat pump or boiler) on the basis of the real energy balance, the possibility to ideally manage mixed or ramified systems for radiant and convective type heat exchangers by granting priority to either intervention dynamics or levels of comfort as required by the real needs of the rooms.
Additional advantages are offered by the use of electronics that provide even easier use: the fancoils present in the same room can be controlled by a single control panel, or in alternative, by a remote control unit (which is more commonly used in VFR systems) with simple and immediate use. There is also the possibility to centralise data from different rooms and chillers/heat pumps in just one control panel (Area Controller).
Lastly, there is also the possibility to employ different communication systems in order to ensure integration with a BMS for the most sophisticated types of automation, and even the chance for connection to a GSM modem for the simple operation that can be made by cell phone (switching on and off, system status check, etc. ).
In medium and large-sized systems, shared electronics becomes a fundamental requisite to both satisfy the requests of the market for system management and control and to both effectively optimise power consumption and offer high levels of comfort.
