New CAREL manufacturing plant in Brazil

The CAREL Group, leaders in refrigeration, air-conditioning and humidification control, on 14 February inaugurated a new manufacturing plant in Brazil, in the Valinhos industrial district around 100 km north-west of Sao Paulo.
Carel Sud America Instrumentaçao Eletronica Ltda., a trading company operating in the country since 1998, has also moved to the same site. Carel Sud America, headed by Giovanni Colazzo, Managing Director, has thus become the CAREL Group's fourth subsidiary to deal with both sales and manufacturing, following Italy, China and the United States, in addition to the Group's other nine subsidiaries. The new manufacturing plant – where construction started in September 2010 - covers an area of more than 1000 square metres, and is a green field development, built new to Carel specifications, in the same way as all other Carel production sites in Italy and abroad.
The Brazilian factory deals with production of electronic solutions for the HVAC/R industry, so as to respond to growing demand on the Brazilian market and in the Americas. This is further demonstration of the CAREL Group's propensity and will to adapt its manufacturing and distribution capabilities in order to best serve its customers' interest and markets.
The Carel site in Valinhos features high technology systems, including automatic assembly, soldering and test equipment. The production process is controlled using automatic in-circuit and functional testing systems on 100% of products made and is completed by the application of protective coating. Specifically, starting last December the plant started production of the PJEZ range of refrigeration controllers, with other product families to be added throughout 2011.
"The expansion of the CAREL Group with this new plant in Brazil demonstrates our commitment to global growth, backed by key values such as customer focus, technological innovation, high product and service reliability and care for the environment", stated Luigi Rossi Luciani, Group President. "The decision to invest in Brazil, moreover, continues our corporate strategy aimed at growing in the emerging markets that will define the future of the world economy", Rossi Luciani continued. Brazil is in fact one of the four BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China), sharing in common a large population, a vast territory, enormous natural resources and a strongly growing GDP and that, according to experts, will dominate the world economy in coming decades.
Carel has been operating in Brazil through its own distributors since the mid 1990s, and in 1998 strengthened its presence in the country by opening the trading company Carel Sud America. The new production plant in Brazil, represents a further step forwards in Carel's South American expansion and the Group's increasingly global and international development strategy.
