Sustainable refrigeration and air conditioning in China

Raul Simonetti, CAREL HVAC/R Corporate Business Manager, addressed the first ‘The Belt and Road Initiative’ International Conference on Sustainable Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, held in Xi’an, China, from 19 to 21 October. Organised by CRAA (China Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association), Hull University (UK) and the Xi’an Polytechnic University, and with the support of several associations and industries, this scientific event had the objective of examining opportunities to save energy and reduce atmospheric pollution, in particular by applying evaporative cooling to industrial, refrigeration and air-conditioning applications.

Attended by academics, researchers, unit manufacturers and experts in the sector from all around the world, the conference represented an excellent platform to assess the most recent technological developments in refrigeration and air-conditioning and create new opportunities for collaboration.

“Saving energy and reducing air pollution are two key aspects in China”, Raul Simonetti commented. “This international conference offered the chance for different players to get together and discuss the most advanced technology for obtaining energy savings and at the same time reducing harmful emissions due to electricity generation. CAREL presented an article on the energy savings that can be guaranteed by evaporative cooling, highlighting above all the savings that are obtainable by combining direct and indirect evaporative cooling, with a return on investment of around two years”.
