The recent introduction of international directives on the control of environmental CO2 emissions has had a major impact on the commercial refrigeration sector. Governments around the world are planning to soon approximate into national law directives on the reduction of HFC refrigerants, the so-called F-gases with high environmental impact, and establish regulations to promote the transition to natural refrigerants. This is the basis for the meeting organised by the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea, entitled “Use of natural gases and other alternatives to F-gases, with specific reference to the refrigeration industry”, scheduled for Thursday 17 November in Rome.

The event will commence with an introduction by the Ministry of the Environment, followed by presentations by businesses dealing with F-gases. “High-efficiency technology using alternative refrigerants to HFCs” is the title of the presentation by Biagio Lamanna, CAREL HVAC/R Knowledge Center Manager, aimed at underlining how it is possible to combine natural refrigerants with energy saving. The meeting will end with a roundtable discussion involving all the other players on the market (trade associations, technical associations, large retailers), with each party presenting their own positions or experience on the topic.

“CAREL is working on understanding just how these new regulations will affect the commercial refrigeration sector”, Biagio Lamanna stated. “It is important for the industry to work alongside trade associations and the organisations assigned the task of drafting the standards, so as to promptly identify future trends and offer our point of view and experience. This allows innovative companies such as CAREL to anticipate market trends, participate in the global debate and identify the best technologies and solutions for each type of application”.
