Custodian Data Centres describe CAREL cooling solution as the ‘only choice’

From the beginning of the project in late 2014 and with the opening of their newest data floors scheduled for March 2015, leading data centre operator, Custodian were looking forward to greatly improved energy efficiency and reduced running costs thanks to a new partnership with CAREL UK. The company, who have won a European environmental award, had opted for an adiabatic evaporative cooling solution comprising CAREL's HumiFog spray atomisation system, customised pCO Sistema controls and a robust service and maintenance provision. Rowland Kinch, Custodian's CEO, describes CAREL as the ‘only choice'.

With Data centres now consuming up to 3% of all global electricity production and emitting 200 million metric tons of CO2, reducing energy consumption is the single greatest challenge the sector faces. Custodian is an innovator and passionate about creating a more sustainable future and the fresh air cooling system at the existing Kent facility has already been recognised for its green credentials with a European Data Centre Leaders award.

For data centres the high environmental and financial costs involved in running such facilities mean that enormous benefits can be reaped by switching to technologies that provide even incremental improvements in power efficiency. It is these benefits that Custodian are achieving through working in partnership with CAREL and choosing adiabatic evaporative cooling. The CAREL solution promised to make them even more efficient and the secret lies in the technology itself.
